Checking Site Links
One of the most frustrating things about using a poorly maintained web site is finding the subject matter that you are looking for, clicking on the link and getting a "404 - File Not Found" error. We have addressed this in i-ntarsiaTM by providing an in-built link checker.
To check the links on the Stage Site, the user simply selects "Check Staging Site Links" from the "Quality" dropdown in the main menu.
The user is then asked to select whether to check internal or external links. We recommend that users get into the habit of checking both types of link after each publish of the Stage and Live sites. This will ensure that all errors will be picked up.
The system will then run through the site selected and highlight any issues, as shown:
When a missing page, image or file is found, the system reports it to the user. The user can then either:
- Add the page
- Delete the link, wherever it is used
- Correct a typing mistake in the link, wherever it is used
