Preparing the Site for Search Engines

Once the user has published their validated, high quality web site, they need to consider how to get visitors to the site. The first thing that a site manager should do is to ensure that the site is full of good, relevant content. Obviously, i-ntarsiaTM makes creating the content easy.

Once the site has good content, the site manager needs to consider the basics of search engine preparation. This means ensuring the Title, Description and Keywords are set up on every page. Once again this is easy using i-ntarsia.

The first step is to set default values for the Description and Keywords on the site. Which is easily done from the "Promote" menu.

Promote menu

This will ensure that each page has "site specific" keywords set. For better search engine performance, however, these values and the Title should be set for each page to reflect the content on that page. To help with this process, i-ntarsia provides an analyser which will allow the user to enter a search term that they would like to be found for in the search engines, and then shows the site's top five pages for that term. A simple to use scoring system shows the user exactly what aspects of the page information is weak for that term, allowing the user to make amendments as required.

Analysis result

This is the basic work that all site managers should do for their site, we have just made it easier. Once this is done, the user should consult I-Next about a submission strategy, and consider more advanced techniques such as "doorway pages".
